CONTEST DESCRIPTION

When you mention extinction, people usually think of pandas, whales and tigers. Most have no idea that thousands of other mammals, birds, corals and plants are on the verge of disappearing forever.

Over the years, conservation groups have used design to help inform the public about species loss (look at the success of the World Wildlife Fund Panda). We want to do the same, by building a collection of animals, birds, and plants that 'you the artist' feel put a face on extinction, and then put those designs on ethically made Tees. Of course, they can be the cute and furry, but remember, "It's not easy being green!"

For some inspiration, visit The World Conservation Union (IUCN), which publishes its Red List of Threatened Species. Some of the things you'll learn: of the 41,415 species of plants and animals they track, 16,306 are threatened with extinction. One in four mammals, one in eight birds, one third of all amphibians and 70% of the world's assessed plants on the 2007 Red List are in jeopardy.

 CONTEST GUIDELINES

We're looking for one-sided or two-sided designs. The contest runs until the end of June, and we'll select 6 to 10 designs in total. We may choose high scorers before the contest closes or extend the contest if the response is strong. There unfortunately are no shortage of species.

What You Can Do

• Any endangered or extinction themed design expressed in any way you choose. It can be flora or fauna, and should focus on a specific species (Central American Leopard) or group (Big Cats).
• Just follow the directions to your right to submit your design.

What You Can't Do

• Read our User Agreement on prohibited content, as it's all there. Basically, just be nice and don't give a lawyer a reason to call you.
