Wow, lot’s of colour. Wonder if one bee would be enough. My faves are the red and eggplant.

Thanks for your comment Allison
I did four bees because, even though it’s all the same bee, bees perform different duties throughout different stages of their lives.

Hi Raithy… Unless I’m mistaken, you never submitted image 20 and 19. Nothing wrong with those. Image 18, just so everyone knows, was rejected because it includes a recognizable corporate trademark, which we don’t allow.
By the way, my family are all beekeepers so I appreciate the interest in this issue, and it’s one of the reasons for one of my first Forum posts way back when: http://www.artevist.com/index.php/forum/post/honeybees_and_artists/

interesting, but I think the message is too complex. You’d always have to explain what it’s about. guess i just like design that needs no explanation.

I’ve noticed that people seem to be obsessed with a message.
There is no message.
The design is called “Bee Aware”
it’s just a way to get bees into the public eye
get them aware of these brilliant little creatures.
That’s all.
Admittedly there are lot’s of elements in the design that could serve as, or be interpreted as, a message. And if you look closely enough you’ll find a message, or two. But then again, some people can find a message in tea leaves or smoke patterns.
Also I didn’t want to add words to the design and be all explanatory about it, as I find it rather patronizing and insulting to people’s intelligence. Especially on an environmental conscience site such as this.
On the other hand, what would be so wrong with having to explain to people what the t shirt means? At least you would start a dialogue and maybe teach someone something.
A clear message will only communicate one message, but confusion will make people think.

Right on Bearboy. You could put “We’re Killing the Bees!” on your design and most idiots still wouldn’t understand it! My favorite message tees are the ones that people come up and ask me what it’s about - means they liked the design enough to want to ask, and I’m always glad to tell them.

The Shirt Is eye catching!! You guys are exactly right a good shirt not only looks good but it gets people talking and asking questions. Sometimes it’s good for people to ask some questions.

About My Design:
Honey bees are slowly disappearing from this earth. Due to pollution and loss of habitat. Without bees more than half our food crops would fail to be pollinated. We need bees and bees need us.
The Bees in the Illustration are looking us in the eye and asking us to make choices.
There is also a slight reference to the Hindu God Kali. ( as bees and Kali both have 6 limbs)
This deity is often associated with death and destruction
Despite this negative connotations, she is not actually the goddess of death, but rather of Time and Change.
If anything, our time needs change.
And I would very much miss my spoon of honey in my tea.
