wondering what the kanji (sorry if this is the wrong term- blame my western education) says? am curious…

Er… i am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the characters here are not kanji, but kana, katakana to be specific, which are only used to write foreign words. Unfortunately the ones found here in this order do not mean anything at all.
I sympathize as i too have yet to learn so much about so many parts of the world.
I think the design is well laid out. Is the emblem in the top right your signature? I think its size and perhaps location detract somewhat from the focus.

About My Design:
Be Like Lord Buddha. Peace is very important not only for an indivudual but also for any country. If the environment is peaceful, then there will be no conflict at all. Peace comes from being content which Lord Buddha has always taught. Hence be like Buddha.
