Doesn’t it drive you crazy when things don’t turn out like you planned? I noticed a couple of things like that on this design, so here’s what I really meant…
The shirt color is pumpkin. The design and background look right, but somehow that tee color totally changed when I submitted it! Yuck!
And what I meant to say in the about part is “There isn’t anything in this world that COULDN’T use a “hug.”” Hope you all enjoy the design!

Thanks! This could have gone under the environment category too. It’s a general message, a reminder, to care for the earth and the things in it.

That is what activism is, but a lot of people aren’t up for being hard core activists. You gotta work with what you can get. If a shirt with a cheery message makes someone decide, I’m going to ride my bike today or I’m going to recycle this instead of throwing it in the trash like I usually do, then there’s something to that. A small thing is better than nothing. Oh, and you’re forgiven for going off on me.

First off, I have to say that this is a really cute design.
More importantly, I love the debate that is going on in this post. What is activism? Does it need to be in the form of protest or dissent and piss people off? Or is any action done with the intention to bring about social or political change - even if it is cute and doesn’t shake things up?
Traditional methods of front-line activism (marches, demonstrations, etc), represent only the most immediate and direct expressions of action for social change. There are many effective ways to positively influence social change other than overt political action.
There is probably a spectrum of social action that proceeds from the more obvious forms down a graded scale of increasing subtlety.
For designing t-shirts, it is important to create shirts that people want to wear that can impart messages of social change.
I don’t think they always need to be bold, blaring messages with graphics that induce shock value. That being said, konehead may have a point when he said:

“General messages about hugs and how super riding a bike is our nice but I don’t think they generate any meaningful discussion

On the previous comments… a message can be delivered in a million ways, pick your vinegar or your honey. Some days I want to feel good about the world and say “smile, it’s going to be alright”. Other days I want to say “Screw You… stop killing my planet” This tee would certainly fit the former need quite nicely!

About My Design:
This design is about doing something good. There isn’t anything in this world could use a “hug.” From changing something in your normal routine to help the environment or passing on some goodwill another person or doing anything else between, it’s all positive action that benefits the planet. This shirt was meant to inspire that kind of action.
