TS Designs Inc. (Artevist's chosen T-shirt printer and supplier of 100% Organic Cotton T-shirts) Announces a new and innovative venture 'Cotton of the Carolinas'

Burlington, NC, Feb 05, 2009 - TS Designs, Inc. today announced the launch of its Cotton of the Carolinas brand.

Cotton of the Carolinas (CotC), a concept developed by TS Designs stakeholders, consists of a network of farmers and manufacturers from the region, dedicated to a local agi-business market that grows, manufactures and sells its shirts in the Carolinas.

The CotC program will focus on three main objectives:

  • Supporting Local Economies — the farmers and manufacturers involved in CotC's year-one products employ over 700 people in North Carolina.
  • Low Transportation Footprint — CotC's year-one production will travel approximately 700 miles from cotton field to printed/dyed shirt. A globally-sourced shirt can travel more than 16,000 miles (US cotton > China manufacturing > US retail) before becoming a finished shirt.
  • Transparency — maps, images, and paperwork track each year's production on a dedicated website: http://www.cottonofthecarolinas.com. Information corresponding to the harvest date printed on each shirt, allows any wearer to track his or her shirt's life from start to finish.

A stakeholder meeting will be held on Thursday, February 12 at TS Designs in Burlington, NC, and will include numerous stakeholders including the farmer, manufacturers, and buyers involved in CotC's year-one product. The press is invited to attend a local lunch at noon, with food provided by local producers, followed by a press conference at 1:30, which includes press packet distribution.

For more information about Cotton of the Carolinas or the February 12th press conference, contact Eric Henry or visit http://www.cottonofthecarolinas.com (still under development).

About TS Designs — TS Designs is a screen printing business founded in 1977. Once catering to the big apparel brands (Nike, Tommy, Polo, GAP, etc.), TS Designs changed its business model and mission after seeing the destructive effects of NAFTA and globalization on its industry. The sustainable innovator now prints and dyes 100% organic cotton, made-in-the-US t-shirts.
