We really like Grist.org out of Seattle, WA. It's a little skewed toward US content, but still has something for everyone, and their writing style is spot on.

Ship Breaking in Photos

By: KingsCastle | Dec 28, 2007 |  1

Categories: Environment

I’ve been looking around for pictures of ship breaking yards for a project I’m working on regarding the exportation of toxins to developing countries.

I know of the Alang shipyards in India (one of the most toxic coastlines in the world), but I know there are others.

The run of the mill photo banks don’t have anything. It’s all pretty tame, but wondered if anyone here knew of an online source for this kind of photo jounalistic style material.

Check out Edward Burtynsky at http://www.edwardburtynsky.com/
He has many pictures of ship breaking which are stunning! Just look in the left hand column and click on “ships”

Hope that helps!
